Honestly, there’s nothing like watching an incredible sunrise or sunset. The colours, the warmth, and the ethereal glow from a good sunrise or sunset are awe-inspiring, and while there are some awesome spots to sun-watch right here in Halton, you might want to get out of the region to experience something truly unique.

About two hours north, you can revel in the gem that is cottage county in Muskoka. Thanks to the small-town vibes and abundance of trails in the area, it’s also an incredible community where you can catch a stunning sunrise or sunset, whether it’s over water, in a trail, or from the window of a cottage. Let the sun shine over the landscape and be inspired.
4) Point Pelee
Point Pelee National Park is an epic place to catch the sunrise or sunset. Located in Leamington, Ont., at the southernmost point of the Canadian mainland, it’s all serene and is covered in all kinds of nature – from beaches, to trails, to migratory birds, and beyond. It’s also Canada’s smallest but most ecologically diverse national park, which makes this place even more special. The best sunset here can be found at Lookout Point, near the park entrance.

3) Niagara Falls
What’s the most Canadian way to catch a sunrise? Over Niagara Falls! Preferably with your moose, with you peeking out from your igloo with a French vanilla in hand, but that’s probably not going to happen (sorry). Jokes aside, Niagara Falls boasts a stunning sunrise over the massive falls that makes for an awesome sight and equally as awesome photos.
2) Algonquin Provincial Park
It’s no secret that Algonquin is a magical park in Ontario, from Barron Canyon to Georgian Bay. Whether you’re looking to catch the sunrise over the water or over or through the trees, any spot is a great spot to sun-watch here. The colours are always epic, and you’ll probably feel like you stepped into a Group of Seven landscape painting.
1) Parliament Hill
Ah, Ottawa. Our nation’s capital is amazing for so many reasons – for one, there’s so much to do, for another, there’s so much to eat, and for yet another, there’s so much to see! There’s no better way to say good morning than by watching the sunrise or sunset over Parliament Hill. It’s colours and patriotism galore here.
