The Town of Halton Hills will be hosting a virtual Affordable Housing Open House as part of its Affordable Housing Awareness and Engagement strategy.

The open house will take place on March 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Town staff, Mayor Bonnette and members from the Affordable Housing Working Group will be on hand to discuss what affordable housing means to the Town of Halton Hills.

Topics that will be discussed include local affordable housing initiatives as well as the benefits of accessory dwelling units in today’s housing market.

Residents and business and property owners are invited to register for the open house and provide ideas that will help inform the future direction of affordable housing initiatives in Halton Hills.

“This is an opportunity for people to help shape growth in our community,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “Affordable housing is a focus area in the Town’s Strategic Plan and Council understands the importance of having housing that meets the needs of all residents in Halton Hills.”

The Affordable Housing Engagement and Awareness Strategy will identify local housing issues through community dialogue and recognizes the importance of providing residents with an adequate supply and range of housing choices.

According to Councillor Jon Hurst, Chair of the Affordable Housing Working Group, “Providing an adequate supply and range of affordable housing choices to meet the needs of present and future residents is an important goal for the working group. We want to hear from residents because community input is key to building an innovative
model for new development in Halton Hills.”
