Ontario housing starts up, but still far off needed levels for 1.5 million homes

A virtual pre-application meeting is being held soon to discuss a proposed Zoning Bylaw Amendment application for the lands located at 4350 Harvester Rd. in Burlington.

The meeting will be hosted by IBI Group for American Iron & Metal Company Inc. and will take place virtually on June 15 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Currently, the subject lands are zoned General Employment “GE1” within the Burlington Zoning by-law 2020.

While the current zoning permits the lands to operate with the existing metal recycling operation, the owners are also seeking permission to allow the existing operation to permit Motor Vehicle Wrecking Establishment, as a permitted use on the lands.

This amendment’s purpose is to allow the business “to receive and depollute a small number of automobiles, along with the salvage and sale of auto-parts for a limited number of motor vehicles.”

A public notice for the pre-application community meeting has already been mailed out to all property owners within 120 metres.

The notice states that the consultation meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn details of the proposed application, hear from city staff on the planning application process, hear from the Ward Councillor and Mayor on Council’s roles in the planning process as well as ask questions.

The meeting will take place via Zoom and can be accessed here.
