The City of Burlington will use a virtual meeting to discuss how it plans to keep people moving in the future.

The City of Burlington will use a virtual meeting to discuss how it plans to keep people moving in the future.

The ongoing Integrated Mobility Plan will look at the future of transportation and the way the public moves about the city. When finished, the plan will provide a wide-range of options for getting around regardless of age, means or ability and will consider walking, cycling, public transit and private automobiles.

Other aspects of the plan include connectivity to transportation in surrounding areas; making available fast, reliable and more frequent transit; and improving current facilities with an eye to safety.

The meeting will feature a number of expert panellists who will discuss the future of transportation and the responsibility of the City to keep the public active and mobile.

“Over the next 25 years, the City of Burlington is going to grow in its urban areas and we need to provide people with choices on how they will move through our city. It is important we design and build a transportation model that will support people of all ages and abilities with options like walking, cycling and transit,” said Kaylan Edgecumbe, Manager of Integrated Mobility Transportation Services for the City of Burlington. “Building more roadways is no longer sustainable and this integrated mobility work will have a great impact on our communities and climate change for future generations.”

The meeting will take place over Zoom on Thursday, Oct. 15 beginning at 7 p.m.
