Via Rail to resume routes following protests

Via Rail is resuming some of the routes that were cancelled due to rail blockades set up by protestors supporting the Wet’suwet’en First Nation.
Via Rail is resuming some of the routes that were cancelled due to rail blockades set up by protestors supporting the Wet’suwet’en First Nation.
On February 13, Via Rail announced they would be cancelling all services due to the blockades.
However, now that some of the blockades have been removed, Via Rail has begun resuming services.
The Toronto- London-Windsor route, the Toronto-Sarnia route, the Toronto-Niagara Falls route, the Quebec City-Montreal-Ottawa route have all resumed full service.

Additionally, the The Ocean (Montreal-Halifax) route is resuming full service on February 28, and the Winnipeg-The Pas route is resuming full service March 1.
According to a news release from Via Rail, as of February 26, 859 trains have been cancelled, which has impacted over 143 500 passengers.
Currently, the Toronto-Ottawa route, the Toronto-Montreal route, the Senneterre-Jonquiere route, and The Canadian route all remain cancelled until March 1, while the Prince Rupert- Prince George-Jasper remains cancelled until March 4.
