The Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified and is expected to be in Burlington on Thursday after a massive fire broke out at a meat processing plant.

The blaze at 4480 Paletta Ct. – that’s near Appleby Line and South Service Rd. – broke out around 4:10 p.m. on Dec. 6.
Everyone in the building was accounted for, according to city officials.
Emergency crews are still at Paletta International on Thursday morning with three aerial Burlington Fire Department trucks.

“Our crews remain on scene and will pass the investigation over the Fire Marshal’s Office hopefully this morning,” said Burlington Fire Chief Dave Lazenby.
Burlington firefighters had help from their counterparts in Oakville and Hamilton. They’re now working alone and damping down hot spots.
The blaze engulfed approximately one-third of the Tender Choice Food headquarters and the building was fully evacuated before firefighters arrived.
“I commend building management for their quick thinking in evacuating their buildings quickly and efficiently,” said Lazenby, adding he’s “pleased that no one was hurt and everyone was accounted for.”
No injuries were reported.
Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring says he’s “relieved” there were no injuries.
The Paletta family established their business in Burlington in 1964 and have been strong community supporters of various organizations such as Joseph Brant Hospital and the Carpenter Hospice.
“On behalf of the city and council, I am sorry for their loss and will be thinking of them and their employees during this challenging time,” Goldring said.
The cause and damage have yet to be determined.
