Now, new information has been released.

A potential pipeline replacement may impact the Halton Region and its residents.

According to Imperial Oil, the company is planning to replace part of the Sarnia Products Pipeline between North York and Waterdown, in order to support the reliable supply of diesel, jet fuel, and gasoline throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the Greater Hamilton Area (GHA).

This would involve replacing an existing 12-inch pipeline with a new 12-inch pipeline.

A portion of the pipeline runs through Burlington north of Highway 403, specifically through Wards 3 and 6.

The company is anticipating to file a Leave to Construct application with the Ontario Energy Board in early 2019.

If the application is approved, the image below outlines the project timeline.

In total, Imperial Oil is planning to replace about 63 kilometres of the pipeline.

Information sessions regarding this potential replacement are being held throughout the Halton Region.
