Top 5 New Restaurant Openings of 2018

Halton’s incredible food scene is always growing and improving.

And in 2018 in particular, the region welcomed an abundance of incredible new restaurants.

It was hard to narrow it down to which new openings were the most exciting. Alas, we were able to decide.

Here are the top five new restaurant openings of 2018 in Halton.


5. Goodfellas

Milton

Earlier in the year, this popular Streetsville Neapolitan wood oven pizza restaurant opened its doors in Halton at 22 Ontario St. S., across from the Milton Mall. Goodfellas is known for its rustic-chic looking interior and its menu that focuses on providing customers with an authentic Southern Italian cuisine.

On the menu customers will find appetizers, fish and meat entrees, an impressive wine selection, and desserts. Customers will also find authentic Romano pizzas and homemade pastas.


4. Trish Juice

Oakville

Trish Juice opened in Oakville in the spring of this year, however, there have been locations in Brampton and Mississauga since 2017. 

This independently owned and operated juice bar serves fresh juice, as well as smoothies (including bowls), milkshakes, cocktails, salads, wraps, and quick health shots. 

As far as beverages go, customers can order some unique blends, including Vitality (pear, green apple, celery, fennel and kale), Mojito (cucumber, lime, pear, mint) and Energizer (apple, carrot, ginger, mint) juices.

Health aficionados can indulge in some cheat-meal treats, including the Berry Cheesecake (blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, cream cheese and soy milk) and other nutrient-dense items such as Coco Green (mango, banana, spinach, coconut milk and orange) smoothies.

Juice will be freshly squeezed, and the other drinks are also made in-house.

All menu items are under $15 — so it’s perfect for anyone looking for a healthy, affordable lunch. 


3. The Oakville Pump & Patio

Oakville 

The Oakville Pump & Patio, which replaced the Niblick Pub, opened near the end of the year. This highly anticipated restaurant officially opened on Dec. 19.

Located at the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre, 1011 Upper Middle Rd. E., The Oakville Pump & Patio offers ribs, steaks, salmon, fajitas, beer battered haddock, sandwiches and wraps, burgers, quesadillas, tacos, pasta, wings and more.The restaurant offers many special deals throughout the week as well, including 79 cent wings on Mondays and Tuesdays with the purchase of a beverage.

The Oakville Pump & Patio is open Monday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Thursdays to Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

2. Loondocks

Burlington 

Loondocks is a cottage-inspired restaurant that opened in Appleby Village in Burlington in the spring of this year. 

This restaurant offers a fine dining experience with a menu that features fresh, local creations.

Popular starters include the Beet and Warm Goat Cheese Salad with heirloom beets, candied walnuts, and aged balsamic and the Duck Confit Poutine ($14) with oka.

Customers can also enjoy a wide selection of sandwiches including the following: Turkey Avocado, Duck Confit Melt, Craft Veggie Burger, Angus Burger.

A few main dishes include the Mac and Cheese, Chorizo Gnocchi, Arctic Char, and Steak Frites.

A vegetarian and vegan menu is available upon request.

Service is friendly and the decor is super chill, complete with an antler chandelier.


1. Madison’s Restaurant and Bar

Halton Hills

Madison’s Restaurant and Bar quite recently opened at Toronto Premium Outlets (TPO) in Halton Hills. This is the very first full-service restaurant at TPO and was part of TPO’s 140,000 square foot expansion that also included introducing more than 40 new retail stores.

This restaurant serves a wide variety of appetizers including a shrimp cocktail, creamy spinach and Reggiano cheese dip, calamari, mussels, and chicken wings. Madison’s also has a huge selection of soups and salads, burgers and sandwiches, seafood, steaks, ribs, chicken, and side orders for foodies to choose from. 

There is also a kids menu for up-and-coming foodies. This menu features every popular kid dish you can think of and even a half rack of baby back ribs. 

Madison’s Restaurant and Bar also has an extensive bar menu including nightly promos, classic cocktails, spirits, beers, wine, and more.
