One of the great things about an expanding population (minus the lack of parking) is the fact there are always plenty of excellent new restaurants opening up shop. This year, there were several exciting new establishments throughout Burlington, Oakville, and Milton.

These are the best new openings of 2019 in Halton.

5: Shawarma Royale

(Oakville)

This new shawarma spot offers wraps and plates including their signature items the king chicken wrap, the king lamb and beef wrap, the falafel wrap, shawarma chicken, and shawarma poutine, just to name a few.

4: Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House

(Burlington)

Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House is a family breakfast and lunch chain consisting of home-cooked dishes.

The vast menu options range from sandwiches to waffles, but it’s the specialty pancakes that make Stacked stand out. Some of their creations include New York Strawberry Cheesecake, Banana Caramel, and Double Chocolate Turtles.

3: Sunny Morning

(Oakville)

Whether you’re looking for a meal that’s on the sweeter side or one that’s more savory, Sunny Morning will fulfill all your needs (it even caters to the people who are more on the lunch side of brunch). At Sunny Mornings hungry customers can enjoy traditional breakfast and brunch options like omelettes, waffles, and pancakes, while also being able to indulge in salads, sandwiches, and burgers.

2: Far East Tacos

(Oakville)

Offering an Asian spin on a classic Mexican dish, this new taco joint that opened this past summer offers plenty of interesting taco twists such as Korean BBQ, bulgogi, pork belly, kalbi, fish tempura and other types of tacos, as well as kimchi fries, and rice bowls.

1: Community Restaurant

(Oakville)

Community Restaurant thrives on its hearty menu and positive atmosphere. Owners Alka Dhir and Vanusa Moore opened in early 2019, and they’ve already built a reputation as one of the top-rated overall restaurants in the entire region.

What makes Community Restaurant so successful is its robust menu that can accommodate anyone’s tastebuds. Even meat-eaters are raving about the crabless crab cakes and tempeh-based dishes.

Want a burger and fries? Get it with almond parmesan and mushroom gravy. Feel like pasta? Try the beet ravioli or Beyond Meat sausage and peppers fusilli. Weekend brunch? Order a mimosa to go with your cauliflower florets topped with dill and cashew tzatziki.

Community Restaurant also offers a variety of desserts you won’t normally find at a vegan food establishment.
