Suspect Nabbed in Burlington Bank Robbery

A 48-year-old Hamilton man is facing charges after being arrested on Wednesday in connection with a knifepoint Burlington bank robbery.

A 48-year-old Hamilton man is facing charges after being arrested on Wednesday in connection with a knifepoint Burlington bank robbery.

The incident took place on Sept. 18 at the TD Canada Trust at 596 Plains Rd. E.

The suspect was identified with assistance from Hamilton police’s break and enter, auto theft and robbery (BEAR) unit and the OPP-led Repeat Offenders Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad whose members recognized the suspect from the security footage.

Members of the ROPE squad arrested the suspect Sept. 20 at 7 a.m. in Hamilton.

At the same time, members Burlington’s criminal investigations bureau executed a search warrant at an apartment on Surrey Lane.

That’s where police allege the knife, sunglasses and articles of clothing worn during the robbery were located.

Investigators say they’ve also recovered some of the cash from the robbery.

Jason Hugh Buick is charged with two counts of robbery, wearing a disguise during the commission of an indictable offence, and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Buick is scheduled to appear in Milton court for a bail hearing on Sept. 21.
