Despite vaccination rates on the rise in Halton, a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a long-term care home in Burlington.
The outbreak at Billings Court Manor, a long-term care home located at 3700 Billings Ct., currently has a total of six active COVID-19 cases.
In a statement to inhalton.com, a spokesperson from Conmed Health Care Group, Billings Court Manor’s owner and operator, confirmed two active resident cases and four active staff cases of the virus.
“As of June 8, there are two active resident cases and four active staff cases of COVID-19 at Billings Court Manor. We remain focused on delivering the best care to residents and making sure staff have the tools and supports they need to do their jobs safely,” said the spokesperson.
“Heightened infection prevention and controls practices remain in place, and we are in close contact with Halton Region Public Health and the Ministry of Long-Term Care on all appropriate measures. We also continue to promote the benefits of vaccination with residents and staff.”
The spokesperson concluded by stating that they continue working towards bringing a safe resolution to the outbreak and remain committed to keeping residents, their families and staff informed.
According to regional data, a total of 30,992 doses have been administered to individuals in the 80+ age group in Halton.
Additionally, as of last week, 69 per cent of Halton residents have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
