Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating a recent collision in Burlington.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, the SIU says a Halton Police officer observed a vehicle in the area of Brant Street and Havendale Boulevard (near Upper Middle Road) and attempted to stop it.

“The vehicle driver did not stop. At the end of Havendale Boulevard, the vehicle left the roadway, entered a wooded area and struck a tree,” according to the SIU report.

One of the vehicle’s three occupants, a 29 year old man, was taken to hospital with a serious injury.

The SIU has assigned one investigator, one forensic investigator, and one collision reconstructionist to investigate this incident. At this time, one subject officer and four witness officers have been designated.

Anyone with information or anyone who was traveling on Havendale Boulevard at about 12:30 a.m. on June 13, 2020 is asked to contact the SIU at 1-800-787-8529.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault.
