Burlington residents interested in visiting Lowville Park will soon have to make reservations in advance due to seasonal construction.

While the park has remained open to the public during construction season, there have been temporary parking lot closures. As a result, visitors will soon be required to make reservations prior to entering the park.

Lowville Park capacity will be managed by a reservation system beginning on Victoria Day Monday, May 24, 2021, in an effort to avoid crowding.

Parking is free but spots will need to be reserved using the online reservations system, which will give visitors a three-hour time slot.

Additionally, temporary but limited on-street parking will be available. Residents are reminded that parking enforcement will be on-site to monitor illegal and unsafe parking.

“We are working to open the parking lot for the summer season. Through the initial construction this spring, please bear with us when the parking lot is closed and keep in mind that there are very few parking spaces available on Lowville Park Road,” said Vito Tolone, Director of Transportation.

As a result of extensive public engagement, the City of Burlington approved the Lowville Park Master Plan; a framework for site enhancements to allow for organized and self-guided park activities.

This initiative is also part of the Council-approved Parks, Recreation and Cultural Assets Master Plan; a city-wide study that created a long-term strategic vision for specific parks, recreation and culture initiatives.

Park visitors are reminded that due to Provincial and public health restrictions, some amenities in the parks remain closed.
