A development plan has been proposed for the Millcroft Golf Club in Burlington. Both the City and neighbouring residents are opposed.

Developers are moving ahead with plans to build housing on a Burlington golf course.

The City of Burlington has received an official submission to build 98 homes and an apartment building on parcels of land on the Millcroft Golf Club in the northern part of the city.

Planners from the City are now reviewing the application to make sure it is complete. After that, the process will see the plans formally reviewed by City staff that will then make recommendations to councillors on the merits of the development. Council will then decide whether to approve or object to the project based on the City’s criteria for development.

Word of the project is not new as it has been discussed at various meetings since early this year. However, despite some community pushback against the plan, the developer – Argo Development Corp. – has decided to move forward with its submission.

The intention of the developer is to build on existing portions of the land by reducing the golf course to 18 holes.
