Police say company used fake construction contracts to lure Halton investor

A lengthy investigation into the construction industry has led to an arrest by Halton Regional Police.

Police say the investigation into Havana Group Supplies began in 2019 and the charges stem for what investigators say were fraudulent claims of procured construction contracts that were used to lure financial investors.

One victim identified in Halton invested a large sum of money, labour and equipment. The victim also purchased vehicles for Havana Group Supplies.

On October 28, Steven Sardinha, 48 of Hamilton was charged with Fraud Over $5000. He is scheduled to appear in court in the city of Burlington on December 1, 2020.

Anyone with information in relation to this occurrence is asked to contact the Halton Regional Police Regional Fraud Unit.
