Oakville has most new cases of COVID-19 today as Halton reports two deaths

There are 57 new cases of COVID-19 in Halton Region today (Nov. 6) and two recorded deaths.

Halton Public Heath reports most of the new cases are from Oakville with 24.

The numbers show Burlington has 17 new cases, Milton 14 and Halton Hills has two.

In total, health officials are dealing with 333 active cases, of which 13 people have been hospitalized.

The deaths appear to have occurred in a Georgetown retirement home where an outbreak had been recently declared. Outbreaks are also being dealt with at senior residences in Burlington in Oakville.

As well, outbreaks have been declared at two Catholic schools, St. Dominic Elementary in Oakville and St. Paul in Burlington with two cases each. Outbreaks are determined by how the virus is spread rather than the number of those infected.

Across Ontario, 1,003 new cases were reported today.
