Ninth cannabis retail store could be coming to Burlington

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has received an application for a ninth cannabis store located in Burlington.

The proposed location for the new store is 3247 Appleby Line Unit 3-4.
Currently, the AGCO is accepting written comments regarding the proposed location until June 10 from residents of the municipality, as well as the representatives for the municipality.
Comments submitted to the AGCO should relate to the following matters of public interest:

- Protecting public health and safety
- Protecting youth and restricting their access to cannabis
- Preventing illicit activities in relation to cannabis
After June 10, the AGCO will take into consideration all written comments, and make a decision regarding whether the store location will be approved.
Currently, there are eight licensed cannabis stores in Burlington.
They are Relm Cannabis Co., located at 4031 Fairview Street Suite 103; Corner Cannabis, located at 3007 New Street; The Hunny Pot Cannabis Co., located at 1505 Guelph Line, Unit 3-4; Friendly Stranger Plains Road, located at 1025 and 1059 Plains Road East, Unit 3; Pioneer Cannabis Co., located at 1200 Brant Street, Unit B-004; mihi, located at 3500 Dundas Street, Unit A1B; Canna Cabana Burlington, located at 2400 Guelph Line, Unit 2; and Welcome Cannabis, located at 1401 Plains Road, Unit 5.
“The majority of the locations of cannabis stores that have popped up in Burlington, including this latest one, meet our City guidelines for where we’d like to see these shops. Burlington was one of the first municipalities to embrace this new form of business and working to make sure these stores are located where they can offer safe access to a legal substance to anyone legally allowed to purchase it is important for our community,” Mayor Marianne Meed Ward said in a news release.
