Milton woman charged in Burlington poppy donation box theft

Halton police made an arrest after three Royal Canadian Legion Poppy donation boxes were stolen from various locations in Burlington.
32-year-old Brittany Richardson of Milton is now facing three counts of theft in relation to those incidents.
The first occurred on Nov. 11 during a moment of silence for Remembrance Day. The poppy donation box at a grocery store on New St was allegedly concealed in the purse of the accused before she stood for the remainder of the silence before exiting the store.
The second incident occurred on Nov. 12 at a coffee shop on Brant St where the accused allegedly stole two Royal Canadian Legion Poppy donation boxes and concealed them in her purse before exiting the shop.

Police say they were quickly able to identify the accused before arresting her on Nov. 15.
Brittany Richardson was released from custody on a promise to appear.
