When Patrick Gates saw all those sevens, he just knew he had to buy a ticket.

And it’s a good thing he did because the Burlington man just won $77,777 in the brand new Instant 777 lottery game.

“I bought this ticket because I saw it was a new game and the number seven is significant to me,” shared Gates while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

Gates, an IT service worker, checked his ticket using the OLG Lottery App. “I burst into tears for about five minutes before I started to scream and cheer out of excitement,” he said.

The 47-year old called his sister right away to tell her the news about his big win. “She was shocked!”

Gates plans to pay some bills and put some of his win towards a down payment on a new home. “I will use what is left to celebrate with loved ones,” he smiled.

“This win has been an incredible and profound blessing during this difficult year,” Gates concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Merchant’s Convenience on Plains Road in Burlington.

Instant 777 was available for $5 and the top prize was $77,777. Odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.61.
