An Oakville man is $100,000 richer after hitting on the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the Aug. 27 Lotto Max draw.

Stephen Lisson, 64, a married father, says the new-found wealth will allow him and his wife to head into retirement debt-free…and maybe take small vacation.

The winning ticket was purchased at The Lottery Stop on Rebecca St. in Oakville.

Lisson says he usually checks his tickets online after each draw.

“I checked my Lotto 6/49 ticket and won $5, and then I checked my Lotto Max ticket, won a free play and noticed that the Encore numbers were matching,” he shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque. “I said to my wife, ‘I think we’ve won some money here!’”

He said when his wife saw that his eyes were widening, she took the ticket to check the numbers for herself. “She must have spent 10 minutes in front of the computer screen,” he laughed.

Now that he has won, Lisson said he has been thinking how well the timing has been.

“A lot of thoughts have been running through my head,” he said. “The real prize is the impact this will have on making sure my wife and I have a comfortable retirement. It’s a little bit surreal.”

Winners of prizes of $1,000 or more can be claimed at the OLG Prize Centre by appointment.
