Clothing retailer Le Chateau will permanently close three Halton Region locations in the weeks ahead; another casualty of COVID-19.
A mainstay in malls and shopping districts across Canada for more than 60 years, the Montreal-based company is seeking court protection from creditors to allow it to shut down and liquidate its merchandise at all locations across the country.
Stores in Halton that will close include locations at Mapleview Shopping Centre in Burlington, as well as the Milton Mall and Georgetown Marketplace.
In total, 123 stores across the country will be closed and 1,400 workers are expected to lose their jobs nation-wide.
The clothing retailer says it can no longer continue its operations, and that circumstances leave the company with no option other than to start the liquidation process.
