Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning as of 3:18 pm on Tuesday (February 12) that residents in Burlington, Oakville, Halton Hills, Milton, Caledon, Mississauga and Brampton could see up to 15 to 25 cm of snow and ice pellets on Tuesday and Tuesday night.

They are also warning that ice pellets, strong winds and possibly freezing rain could be on the way as well.

Snow and blowing snow will begin early Tuesday morning, with strong easterly winds of 40 gusting to 70 km/h will cause reduced visibility in blowing snow. Stronger wind gusts up to 80 km/h are possible near the shores of Lake Ontario.

Environment Canada expects the snow, ice pellets to end around Wednesday.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas, so drive safely.
