High Lake Levels Keep Oakville Parks Closed

Extremely high water levels – plus plenty of rain – are continuing to damage the shoreline, making a long list of locations unsafe in Oakville.
Extremely high water levels – plus plenty of rain – are continuing to damage the shoreline, making a long list of locations unsafe in Oakville.
Lakeside parks are being inspected twice daily to assess current conditions and parks will reopen as soon as it’s safe, according to the Town of Oakville.
Residents are being reminded to use caution around creeks, ponds, and Lake Ontario, as flooding and shoreline erosion are creating dangerous conditions.
Many areas are taped or fenced off around Oakville for resident safety.

Here’s an updated list of locations that are still closed, via the Town of Oakville:
- Coronation Park is partially closed, including the splash pad and volleyball courts. The playground, looped parking lot, washrooms and picnic areas A and B are open, but permitted pre-bookings aren’t available until Sept. 5.
- Bronte West Pier
- Bronte Harbour – nightly closure from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Gairloch Gardens (closed halfway down the park from the parking lot)
- Dingle Park (trail closed from Allan St. to Trafalgar Rd.)
- Carrington Promenade (westerly portion)
- Bronte Harbour launch ramp
- Busby Park launch ramp
- Timber Lane – West St. pathway
- A short section of Water St. adjacent to the Oakville Central Library
