If you live in the City of Burlington you may have noticed that the Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) has been in the news a lot lately.

The hospital has been recognized as one of the top employers in the Halton Region for 2019, and it was also recently revealed that JBH will receive $765,000 from the Ontario government in order to upgrade, repair, and maintain its facilities.

Now, the hospital has also been recognized for its efforts to improve on a variety of levels including quality and safety, communication and collaboration, leading practices and accountability.

The hospital, according to a press release, welcomed the Accreditation Canada organization into the facility. This is a not-for-profit organization that provides health care organizations with an external peer review process that assesses and improves the services they provide based on standards of healthcare excellence.

Following their review process, JBH achieved Accreditation with Exemplary Standing for the 2018 – 2022 period. This is the highest possible designation for an accredited organization and is the second time that JBH has achieved this standing.

“Receiving the highest possible standing from Accreditation Canada means a lot to our hospital teams, it’s a direct reflection of their dedication to delivering the highest quality of care to our patients and community,” Dr. Ian Preyra, Chief of Staff, Joseph Brant Hospital, said in the release.

This designation is awarded to organizations that exceed Accreditation Canada’s requirements and demonstrate excellence in quality improvement.

Accreditation Canada highlighted JBH’s commitment to quality improvement, patient-centered care and teamwork.

The Accreditation review process is completely voluntary.
