Here’s More Important Waste Collection Information for Halton Residents

Halton Region is holding an event on Sept. 15.

Each year during the Compost Giveaway, Halton Region offers compost to Halton residents, free of charge.

Residents can take up to the equivalent of seven garbage bags of compost per household.

It runs from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Halton Waste Management Site – 5400 Regional Road 25 in Milton

What to bring? 

• Shovels – residents are responsible for shovelling and bagging their own compost.
• Containers – yard waste bags, garbage bags, reusable containers, pick-up bed, trailer.
• Donations – residents are encouraged to make a donation of non-perishable food items or a monetary donation to support local Halton food banks.

Backyard composting is nature’s way of recycling and a simple way to manage your household’s food and yard waste. By making your own compost, you can produce high-quality fertilizer for your gardens or lawn.

You can purchase a backyard composter (2 max limit) for $15 at the Halton Waste Management Site.

You will also receive a helpful Backyard Composting Guide. Cash, Debit, Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
