According to a recent police news release, Halton officers responded to eight incidents of impaired driving from Nov. 7 to Nov. 11 alone.

Halton Police are warning residents about the financial impacts impaired driving can have on a person.

Here’s how impaired driving will impact you financially in Halton.

According to police, the legal costs of impaired driving are estimated to be between $2,000 and $10,000, a ‘Criminal Code Fine’ will cost about $1,000, a ‘Back on Track’ program costs around $578, a ‘Licence Reinstatement Fee’ will cost about $150, it is estimated that a person’s insurance will increase to approximately $15,000, and an ‘Ignition Interlock’ will cost about $1,800.

Overall, impaired driving will cost a Halton resident an estimated $18,500 at a minimum.
