Heat warning ended for Halton; showers expected

The Halton Region ended its heat warning Tuesday after days of smouldering temperatures.

High temperatures are expected to hover around 26 Celsius throughout the week with the lows in the mid-teens. Showers are expected Tuesday with a chance of thunderstorms. There’s also 40 per cent chance of rain both Wednesday and Thursday in Halton.

For the last few days, the region saw temperatures in the 30s with the humidex making it feel like temperatures reached the 40s and even 50s at times.

The Halton Region issues heat warnings when forecast temperatures are expected to be at least 31 Celsius and overnight temperatures are above 20 for 2 days, or the humidex is at least 40 for 2 days.

Extended heat warnings are issued when forecast temperatures are expected to be at least 3 and overnight temperatures are above 20 Celsius for at least 3 days, or the humidex is at least 40 for at least 3 days.
