Two armed suspects are on the run following a drug store robbery in Burlington early Thursday.

A “quantity of narcotics” was removed from the store, said Halton Regional Police Sgt. Barry Malciw.

Officers responded to a call at Shoppers Drug Mart at Guelph Line and New St. around 3:30 a.m.

The suspects – one had a gun, while the other had an expandable baton – rounded up employees and before heading to the pharmacy to demand drugs, say police.

The canine unit was brought in to track the suspects but the search turned up empty.

The incident may have been captured via surveillance cameras, said Malciw.

Police have two male suspects: the first is described as Hispanic with a heavy build. He stands 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and was wearing a black hoodie or jacket, dark pants, and white shoes. A black and white bandana was covering his face.

The second suspect was carrying the baton. He’s white, standing six-feet with a thin build. He weighs about 150 pounds and was wearing a dark toque. The suspect had a beige bandana covering his face and he was wearing black gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Det. Phil Vandenbeukel at the Burlington criminal investigations bureau at  905-825-4747 ext. 2343 or CrimeStoppers 1-800-222-8477.
