Halton Hills and Burlington Both Made This Top 10 List

Both areas ranked in the top 10 cities and towns for Culture Days, a non-profit organization that celebrates arts and culture. The event has become the largest cultural happening in the country, attracting over 2.5 million people in 800 Canadian communities.
For Halton Hills, small town values have generated success – a number six ranking for registered Culture Days activities among municipalities with 50,000 to 499,999 residents. This ranking is a first for the town, according to a recent press release.
This year, the community held a record 62 events between Sept. 28 and Sept. 30 at venues throughout town, including the library which hosted 16 events at their two locations.

In a recent press release, Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette commented on the success of the event.
“I often speak to our high quality of life,” Mayor Bonnette, said in a recent press release.
“And this recognition is indicative of us doing something very right in this town. I have to give credit to our staff for their hard work and our local artists and community organizations who contributed to this success.”
Halton Hills’ Culture Days also included Doors Open, an annual event that showcased unique local heritage and cultural attractions.
“Culture Days is about having fun and enjoying great art and cultural activities. The success of Culture Days contributes to the Town’s cultural vibrancy, quality of life and unique tourism opportunities,” Damian Szybalski, Manager of Economic Development, Innovation and Culture for Halton Hills, said in a recent press release.
“This is another piece of the puzzle that helps make Halton Hills such a desirable place to live, work, play and invest.”
Burlington’s Culture Days celebrations, this year, featured local creative organizations, venues, professionals, and businesses that hosted free events throughout the weekend.
Burlington’s Culture Days is hosted by the City of Burlington, independent Burlington artists, the Arts and Culture Council of Burlington, the Art Gallery of Burlington, the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, Burlington Public Library, Museums of Burlington and Tourism Burlington.
This year, Burlington had over 50 cultural activities registered.
“It takes a lot of work and great partners not only to run Culture Days in Burlington, but to make it a top 10 event out of hundreds of municipalities,” Heather MacDonald, Director of City Building Burlington, said in a recent press release.
“Thank you to our partners, the Arts and Culture Council of Burlington, the Art Gallery of Burlington, the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, Burlington Public Library, Museums of Burlington and Tourism Burlington.”
Culture Days next year will take place from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29, 2019.
