A swan that wandered onto the QEW is safe thanks to a Burlington OPP officer.

The swan had been seen in the streets around Burlington and Hamilton for a few days and had noticeable injuries. Several calls were made to police about the swan, but it wasn’t until Thursday (Oct. 8) that it made its way to the QEW where it was captured.

The fast-acting OPP officer was able to rescue the big wayward bird before it wandered too far into traffic.

After a brief stay at local animal services location, the swan was taken to Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge near Hagersville where it is reported to be recovering from its injuries.
