The City of Burlington is hosting a virtual launch for the Burlington Housing Strategy.

The launch will take place on Monday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m.

Last month, City Council endorsed the Burlington Housing Strategy Terms of Reference. Additionally, City staff was directed to begin working on a Housing Strategy in order to give current and future residents more housing options across the city.

The Housing Strategy will build on and support Halton Region’s Housing Strategy and is an opportunity to develop solutions for housing issues in Burlington.

Residents are invited to hear the presentation and join the discussion. They can do so by clicking here.

The launch will be hosted by City staff and will feature a community panel of key stakeholders from the government, the private sector and the community to share their ideas.

Ted Hildebrandt of Community Development Halton will present and a discussion period for community members and stakeholders will follow to provide an opportunity to share input and experiences as well as voice concerns.

Additionally, residents are encouraged to take the online Burlington Housing Strategy survey, starting on Monday, March 1.

As City staff develop a draft housing engagement plan, the feedback gathered from the survey and during this meeting will be considered.

Staff will present the draft engagement plan and community feedback to Council at the Community Planning, Regulation & Mobility Committee on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

“Join me at the Burlington Housing Strategy Virtual Launch on March 8 in a discussion about housing in Burlington with stakeholders and members of the community,” said Mark Simeoni, Director of Community Planning.

“It will be an opportunity to share your experiences, challenges and the opportunities you see for Burlington and the Housing Strategy.”
