City of Burlington advises residents not to ‘linger’ outdoors over Victoria Day long weekend

While outdoor activity is allowed amid the provincial Stay-at-Home order, the City of Burlington has advised its residents not to “linger” outside over the upcoming Victoria Day long weekend.
“If you need some fresh air and activity, it’s okay to walk, cycle or jog through your neighbourhood park, but please do not linger,” said the City in a release.
“Please stay two metres (six feet) away from everyone else in the park, or on a trail, and take your waste home with you to dispose of it.”
This year, Victoria Day falls on May 24 in Burlington and while COVID-19 may have put a damper on traditional plans, the city has provided ways for residents to celebrate it safely through online activities and virtual fireworks.
“As we head into the long weekend, I encourage all our residents to safely enjoy as many activities as they can to support their mental and physical well-being,” said Mayor Marianne Meed Ward.
“Continue to follow the advice of healthcare experts and use common sense and good judgement as you make choices each day that help keep everyone in our community healthy.”
