The City of Burlington is currently seeking feedback on locations for their Rainbow Crosswalks, which show support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Along with showing their support, the city’s Rainbow Crosswalks are a way to send a welcoming message to the entire community while advancing the city’s values of equity, diversity and inclusion.
After the installation of their first crosswalk last year at Lakeshore Road and Burlington Avenue across from Spencer Smith Park, the city received tons of community support as well as requests for additional locations.
The city is currently collecting feedback through a survey for up to three locations to implement each year for the remainder of this term of council (2021-2022).
The survey will ask participants to choose their top six locations and based on the results, the City will make plans to implement them.
Locations will be chosen based on the results of this survey, other community input and ensuring distribution throughout different wards across the city and those that aren’t selected this time may be considered for future year installations.
In June, during Pride Month, a report with the results of the survey will be presented to City Committee and Council.
