Burlington city council recently unanimously approved a revised plan which included a long-term vision for the city’s future.

The Burlington 2015-2040 Strategic Plan, which is a refreshed version of the 2016 Strategic Plan, provides a framework for decision-making and assists the city with managing its resources.

Additionally, it helps to address the economic and demographic changes to the city and better positions the community for the next 25 years.

“Our refreshed 25-year Strategic Plan does a great job of distinguishing between our short-term and aspirational goals. Doing so is critical in properly managing our resources today to better position Burlington for the future,” said Mayor Marianne Meed Ward.

The city says that moving the plan’s strategic directions forward is important.

“We want our city to see the benefits of city services. We want residents to feel the positive impacts to their quality of life,” said the City of Burlington on Twitter.

“We also need the work plan goals and actions to help Burlington progress. Our work should move Burlington towards our vision for the future.”

While the plan is for 25 years, there will be four-year work plans and prioritization of goals and initiatives within the plan.

Vision 2040 is supported with the Official Plan, Integrated Mobility Plan, Asset Management Plan, Burlington Economic Development Strategic Plan and Burlington’s Plan: From Vision to Focus, Burlington’s 4-year work plan.
