A 38-year-old man has been convicted in two southern Ontario bank robberies – including one in Burlington – and he’ll be spending at least a decade behind bars.

He was sentenced in a Milton courtroom on March 7.

Jail time for Jeffrey George Gorsline, of no fixed address: 11 years in a federal penitentiary.

Gorsline, a former Nova Scotia resident, was convicted in two holdups on Oct. 28, 2017.

The TD Canada Trust at 500 Guelph Line was robbed at 12:25 p.m.

Gorsline approached the teller with a note demanding cash and indicating he had a weapon.

The teller complied and he made off with cash.

No injuries were reported.

A Bank of Montreal, or BMO, location in Niagara Falls was also held up earlier that morning.

Gorsline was arrested by OPP two days later and charged in Milton last December.

But it’s unclear what’s happening out east — Gorsline is allegedly linked to three bank robberies in eastern Canada, including one in Fredericton.

Charges “were supposed to have been transferred,” said Halton police Det.-Sgt. Ron Hansen.
