Brand New Hotel Officially Open in Burlington

A Courtyard by Marriott hotel has opened in the city and just celebrated their grand opening. Many people, including Premier Doug Ford, attended the celebration.
Mayor Meed Ward says, “Burlington is open for business and this just shows people investing in our community believing in Halton, believing in our city as a place to do business… We want to roll out the red carpet to invite and attract new businesses here to Burlington.”
Ford was invited for the ribbon cutting at the opening of the hotel and believes that the business is a good opportunity for the community.

“There are hundreds of other people that made this project happen from the trades people that are so important to everyone else,” says Ford. Burlington is “a thriving city that’s growing exponentially I just want to wish you all the best and if you ever need help as I say give us a call.”
He also took to Twitter to share his presence at the hotel and add, “this sort of success is exactly why we’re working to make Ontario an easier place to grow businesses and create jobs.”
The hotel is located on 1110 Burloak Drive and cost about $22 million. The lodging of the 25,000 square feet and 135-room hotel starts at $169 per night. The hotel includes a local restaurant called The Bistro, a bar and a convenience store. It offers a state-of-the-art fitness centre, an exterior courtyard, a pool, a business centre and banquet space.
According to Marriott International, projects such as this are driven by a solid increase in the demand for business and leisure travel in Ontario. The Courtyard by Marriott brand is one of 30 brands under Marriott Internernational and has 1,000 hotels locations across the world.
This is the third hotel in that immediate area. This hotel was part of the 383 building permits issued in 2018 for industrial, commercial or institutional projects. Though, a bylaw was passed last month to put a one-year freeze on any new developments in the city.
