Now that hustle and bustle of the holiday season is coming to an end, you deserve to relax. And what better way to wind down then cozying up on the couch while reading a book?

Now, with new hours, the Burlington Public Library will be making this a lot easier.

Starting on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, according to a recent news release, new hours will be in effect at the library.

These new hours can be seen in the graphic below.

Following the community’s input from the Library’s 2016-2020 planning cycle, the concept of better open hours became a top priority for the Burlington Public Library Board.

“During our conversations, we heard how much everyone loves their library but would like different hours,” Brian Kenny, Chair, Burlington Public Library Board, said in the news release.

“So, we made a commitment to find out what hours our customers want and make it happen.”

In 2018, library staff looked at customer use patterns as well as borrowing trends, and examined the library service hours of neighbouring and comparable libraries and cities. From here, according to the news release, the Burlington community was consulted via a public survey that resulted in input from 2,661 residents about their preferred library hours of operation.

It was discovered that residents wanted more locations to be open Sundays and evenings.

“We are so pleased to be able to start off the new year with library service hours that reflect our community’s preferences,” Kenny said in the news release.

“And it’s a gratifying legacy of our volunteer Board as we wrap up our four-year term representing the voice of local citizens.”

What do you think of these new hours?
