North America’s longest-running 30k road race has been revamped for 2021.
With COVID-19 forcing the cancellation of the traditional outdoor race, participants can run on their own and submit their results anytime from March 25 to April 25, 2021.
Organizers announced on Tuesday (Feb. 9) that runners can register for the following distances:
The 127th Around the Bay Road Race will also feature a brand new event, called “The Hammer.” In order to complete the new event, participants will have to run the gauntlet and finish a 2k, 5k, 10k, 15k, and 30k.
Those who complete The Hammer will receive three personalized medals and a long-sleeve shirt.

Once registered, you’ll be sent a race package.
The 2020 race was cancelled due to the pandemic despite efforts to reschedule. Organizers were unable to issue refunds because they said expenses had already been paid. Those who registered could choose to have their entry deferred.
In 2019, the race brought 10,000 runners and thousands of spectators to the course, which begins in Hamilton’s downtown core.
The tentative date for the 128th edition of the Around the Bay Road Race is March 27, 2022.
