The City of Burlington has recently announced that the area around the Burlington Cenotaph to the north of City Hall will be named Veteran Square.

This decision was made at Burlington’s City Council meeting on Nov. 23 following a formal request from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60.

Each year, the City of Burlington recognizes Veteran’s Week and Remembrance Day during the month of November; a time to honour those who have served Canada in times of war, military conflict and peace, both in the past and present.

The City hopes that the naming of this area will honour those who gave residents their freedom and built up the country.

The community is encouraged to visit Veteran Square to pay their respects and appreciation to Veterans, peacekeepers and their families.

In the near future, the City will be installing a sign with the new name, “Veteran Square.”
