Alleged Bank Robberies in Halton and Hamilton May be Connected

The Halton and Hamilton Police are seeking assistance identifying a male involved in alleged bank robberies in the Halton and Hamilton area.

According to Hamilton Police, on May 10 of this year shortly before 3 p.m., police went to Scotia Bank at 997 Fennell Avenue East following an alleged robbery.

A male suspect entered the bank and approached the clerk who was working the counter, police say.

According to police, the suspect produced a note stating it was a robbery and made demands for money. The suspect was able to obtain a large amount of money before successfully leaving the bank.

Police are describing the suspect as a tall, white male, who is unshaven and in his mid 50s. Police say the suspect was wearing a light-coloured ball cap, a dark sweater, dark pants, and black and white shoes.

On July 24 of this year shortly before 1 p.m., Halton Police Service responded to the TD Bank at 1505 Guelph Line in Burlington for an alleged robbery.

Similar to the alleged robbery described above, a male suspect entered the bank and approached the clerk working the counter, police say.

According to police, the suspect produced a note saying it was a robbery and stated that he would hurt the clerk. 

The suspect was able to obtain a small amount of money before successfully fleeing the bank, police say.

There were no injuries, police say.

Police are describing the suspect as a white male, between the ages of 40 and 50, and was seen wearing black pants, a black jacket, and a black and/or blue Toronto Blue Jays hat.

Hamilton and Halton Detectives believe the same suspect is responsible for both alleged robberies.
