Ivanhoé Cambridge and Decathlon announce that Decathlon will open a new store in Mapleview in the fall of 2020.

This is the second store of the internationally renowned franchise in Ontario. The French sporting goods retailer will occupy nearly 5,091 m2 (54,800 ft2) of the lower level of the space formerly occupied by Sears.

“We are thrilled to welcome Decathlon to Mapleview, a premier shopping destination in southern Ontario with more than 149 exceptional retailers,” said Rita Donnelly, the General Manager at Mapleview. “This new addition to the retail offering will contribute to enhancing the shopping experience for our discerning customers.”

Decathlon encourages its future customers to try the sporting goods in various testing areas within the store, to help make sports accessible to as many people as possible before purchasing the goods.

“We are delighted to be coming to Mapleview, a prime location just 45 minutes away from downtown Toronto”, said Julien Duchateau of Decathlon Canada. “This second store in Ontario will enable us to deliver more effectively on our brand promise, which is to make sports accessible to as many people as we can.”

Decathlon says since establishing its presence in Canada in 2018, it has quickly generated its value proposition, thanks to its unique experiential customer focus, distinctive retail offering, which emphasizes in-house brands, competitive pricing, and modern, personalized shopping experience with a strong online presence.
