A big change is coming to the Burlington and Milton courthouses.
Both Provincial Offences (POA) Courts are set to relocate to one new courthouse located at 4085 Palladium Way in Burlington.
The Milton court relocated on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019. And the Burlington POA Court, and all POA court services, moved to the new Halton Provincial Offences Court on on Jan. 31.

“The City of Burlington is pleased to work with our municipal partners in Halton to open this new courthouse,” Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward said a recent press release.
“We look forward to seeing the benefits this additional facility will have on improving access to justice for our residents.”
The new Ontario Court of Justice – Halton Provincial Offences Office opened to the public on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and started hearing cases on Wednesday, Feb. 6, according to the press release.
This courthouse will administer provincial offences court services for the entire Halton Region. Provincial offences court services include only non-criminal provincial offences charges issued in the region. These non-criminal charges include highway traffic act offences, municipal bylaw offences, and offences under provincial legislation.
According to the press release, criminal charges, family law matters, and small claims cases will not be dealt with at the courthouse.
Construction of this new 34,000 square foot courthouse started back in 2017.
The courthouse was designed by the Ventin Group Ltd. and captures the changing and evolving landscape of the Halton Region. The natural environment is reflected in the design through a selection of landscape materials.
