Got a hot date for the summer in Oakville, Burlington, Milton or Halton Hills?

It’s time to do something outdoors.

With so many activities lined up, some fun under the sun is guaranteed.

How about a swim or a camping trip?

Or perhaps you could cozy up under the stars with cold suds in hand! Here are some fun date ideas in Halton.

5. Go Fish, or kayak

Paddle away with your beau on Kelso Lake (has boat rentals available), which also is home to several varieties of fish. Another option is the Mountsberg reservoir, which is perfect for a relaxing date. You can row away together and enjoy the quiet around. And surely, you’ll have lots of time for those deep conversations.

4. Cozy up under the stars
Forget about Netflix and Chill and head out to a spot in your city that showcases movies outdoors. Carry a blanket and some cushions to make a cozy nook for you two. Burlington’s Movie Under the Stars begins in July, or catch a flick in downtown Oakville in Towne Square. You can never go wrong with a classic movie date.

3. Get artsy
Whether you enjoy looking at art or prefer to get your hands dirty. If you’re a couple that loves art, why not turn it into a date? Take some shade from the sun and head into art galleries. Or drop in at art festivals through the summer. Oakville’s Art in the Park has over a 100 exhibitors every year and comes with food, drinks and live music as bonus. If you’re really committed to getting your hands dirty, sign up for an evening of painting with your date. The Wobbly Canvas has events every Friday night. You can book online by selecting the artwork you’d like to try to paint. Or Paint and Cocktails is perhaps a better bet if you want to add drinks in the mix. And, if you prefer another art form, how about a weekend pottery workshop?

2. Pick-Your-Own at a Farm
If the classic farmer’s market date is too mellow, take it a step ahead and visit a farm. Pick your own strawberries, raspberries, cherries or corn.  Andrew’s Scenic Acres is like the king of pick-your-own. All summer long you can pick rhubarb and asparagus, along with apples, Indian corn, plums and a variety of berries. Another choice is the Hutchinson Farm, which is not too far a drive from Burlington. You could end your date by trying out a new recipe together. Now, that’s a romantic memory to have, no?

1. Go festival hopping
As much as this may be a summer cliché, it’s the best thing to do. You can buy each other small gifts, or try out all the food. Maybe even play a game or two and soak in the moody live music. Head out to shop at Oakville’s Midnight Madness, or share some ribs at the Burlington’s Rib Fest, or perhaps the Downtown Milton Street festival. Or head out to try a festival in another city!
