5 Spots to Hang Out by the Lake in Halton

Oakville, Burlington and Milton have several spots where you can be by the lake on a lovely summery day.
And, of course that means making the most of them in the warm weather because we only have four months to really enjoy the heat!
Exploring a trail around the lake or taking in a meal at a lake-view restaurant, or even a stroll along the lake; Halton has a little bit of something for everyone.
Here are 5 places to hang out by the lake in Halton.
5) Take an historic stroll at Lakeside Park
Along the shore of Lake Ontario, you can peak into Oakville’s history. The park is home to two historic buildings, Oakville’s first post office and the Thomas House. The park, located in downtown Oakville is not shy of scenic views either and you can also stroll along the path that forms the Homecoming Trail. Want to take a walk in the past more? Stop by the Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate, right across the street from the park.

4) Have a beach day at Kelso
Set up your beach chairs, sunbathe in the sand and play a game of beach volleyball. The beach at Kelso has a designated swimming area, but there’s a lot more you can do than just soaking the sun. You can take a stroll along the boardwalk, try a boat rental or go fishing.
3) Visit a 15th century village at Crawford Lake
Get a group of friends, or get the family together and head to Crawford lake. Take a scenic stroll along the unique meromictic lake, a rare type that has layers of water that don’t mix. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic with a view. And, then it’s time to explore the 15th century Iroquoian longhouses and village. You can take a peek into the Deer Clan Longhouse that has exhibits on display. And, there’s an art installation there too.
2) Gawk at a mansion in Paletta Lakefront Park
The majestic mansion and estate, circa 1930 is a wedding venue in Burlington. But there’s no reason you couldn’t stare at it from a distance and daydream. See the landscaped estate side, or explore the flood plain and the valley walls of Shore Acres Creek. The park has a picturesque waterfront, floral gardens, trails and suspended iron bridges. It’s a unique blend of wetlands, waterfront nature trails and pathways with panoramic views of Lake Ontario. You’ll also find a significant amount of wildlife in the park.
1) Dine with a view
Fried bread knots or a juicy steak and a glass of wine? Watch the sun set and enjoy the calm and an endless stream of blue…or head out for brunch. Regardless of what restaurant you’re at, a good view always tops off an incredible meal perfectly.
