5 Outlets to go Back to School Shopping Outside Halton

Dorm rooms need to be set up, pencil cases need to be filled, and laptops need to be bought, because school is officially back in session on September 5! There’s a lot you likely need to purchase over the next week, and back to school shopping doesn’t come cheap.

If you’re looking for an outlet mall near Halton to help you out, here are a handful that are driving distance from the city. Escape the city, take a drive, and only come back when your car is full of everything from pens, to bedsheets, to phone accessories, to clothes, and beyond.

Here are five outlet malls where you can go back to school shopping outside the region.


5) Vaughan Mills

At 1 Bass Pro Mills Drive in Vaughan, this massive mall combines outlets and regularly priced retailers to give you a comprehensive shopping experience. But it’s no secret that Vaughan Mills has some sweet deals. Feeling fancy for a frosh formal? Check out their Holt Renfrew last call store. Need some nice sweaters and staple pieces? Scope out their Tommy Hilfiger Outlet. Grab new runners at their Adidas Outlet. This place is best for clothes, shoes, eyewear, and maybe even a new ‘do. They’re typically open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m, except on Sundays, when they’re open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.


4) Orfus Road Outlets

Urban Planet, Siblings, Beddington’s, and Roots 73 are among what you’ll find at the Orfus Road Outlets in Toronto. They’ve got an abundance of clearance outlets for clothing, houseware, just south of Yorkdale. Book your afternoon to explore here – with varying hours for each store, you’ll want to spend the day browsing. They even have a cheese store, so you can stock a dorm room fridge!


3) Tanger Outlets

Have you heard of the Tanger Outlets in Cookstown? They’re about an hour away, but they’re worth the drive! Grab a backpack from Bentley, some cozy outfits from Bluenotes, cheap footwear from Famous Footwear, children’s apparel from The Children’s Place, and even dorm furnishings for older students from Home Essentials. They’re open from 9:30 a.m-9 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.


2) Niagara Outlets

The Outlet Collection at Niagara is a classic for outlet mall shopping – but not only for tourists! Head out to the Niagara Outlets for some great back to school clothes shopping. Niagara boasts outlets like a Banana Republic Factory Store, Browns, Justice, and even Diesel. Don’t forget to grab some chocolate from Lindt on your way out – you’ll likely need it during those first few weeks of school! Hashtag stress eating. The Niagara Outlets are open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.


1) Heartland Town Centre

It’s big box stores and electronics galore at Heartland in Mississauga, and you’ll definitely want to spend some time and take a walk to scope out all of the stores that are there. Check out the Aldo outlet, Gap Factory Outlet, the Payless Superstore, and H&M for some deals on shoes and clothes. If you’re looking for a laptop, a camera, or any electronics, be sure to stop by the massive Best Buy when you get there. Heartland retailers have varying hours of operation – it’s an outdoor mall with separate entrances.
