There is no moment like one that’s caught on video and immortalized on the internet forever—and Oakville, Burlington, and Milton had a lot of those this year.

In 2017, there was a mix of unfortunate and memorable moments that were caught on video across Halton — a horrific crash, motorcyclists causing chaos, and a legit mission for Lululemon gear.

But some moments stood out to inHalton readers more than others.

Here are the most watched “CAUGHT ON VIDEO” moments in Halton this year, so you can catch them again.

5. Suspects Break in to Steal Lululemon Gear

Halton police weren’t the only ones looking for suspects linked to a popular brand of yoga wear in Burlington and Stoney Creek. Detectives in Hamilton are searching for multiple suspects who broke into Moksha Yoga in Stoney Creek on Canada Day around 11:30 p.m. and made off with Lululemon merchandise. Coincidentally, Halton police were also looking into the theft of Lulu gear but Const. Naresh Dabas says the incidents aren’t related. The Burlington case at Mapleview mall was a shoplifting incident. In the Stoney Creek case, three suspects – with their faces covered – used a hammer to break into the store at 270 Mud St. W., smashing the front glass door. They entered the store and began stealing the clothing mainly Lulu items to the tune of $20,000 worth of merchandise. The incident was captured on camera and originally shared on the Moksa Yoga public Facebook page.

4. Motorcyclists Take Over All GTA Highways

A group of motorcyclists wreaking havoc on GTA highways over the August long weekend were being sought by Ontario Provincial Police. “Not only were they driving dangerously and aggressively, at some time they came to a dead stop on the highway, causing congestion, chaos, frustration for motorists and really putting everyone at risk on the highways,” said OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt. Numerous complaints came in about the group along the Queen Elizabeth Way, Highways 403, 401, 409, the Gardiner Express Way, and the Don Valley Parkway between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. “There could’ve easily been crashes,” said Schmidt. Aerial video footage was later released by police.

3. Coyotes Roaming Around Residential Area in Oakville

If there’s one animal that’s was getting a great deal of attention in 2017, it’s the urban coyote. An Instagram user shared footage of two coyotes roaming around the Lakeshore Rd. and Third Line area in Oakville. Over the past few months, pet owners have shared some heartbreaking stories with major news outlets about having their pets snatched in Toronto, Mississauga and Halton-area cities and towns. While high-profile attacks on pets — especially animals that should, for all intents and purposes, be safe in their private, fenced-in yards — are horrifying, they are not new. Coyotes are common in urban areas and are frequently seen in Oakville, Burlington and Milton. Much like skunks and squirrels and raccoons, they’re not going anywhere and might make more appearances in dense spaces because residents (sometimes unknowingly, to be fair) provide food for them.

2. Crazy Footage of Huge Crash in Milton

A multi-vehicle crash in Milton was caught on dashcam video — an inhalton.com reader who sent it in says it took place on Oct. 31 at Derry and Trafalgar around 7 a.m. Halton police Const. Ryan Anderson confirmed the vehicles involved were heading southbound on Trafalgar, north of Derry Rd. — six of them were stopped at a light. “A seventh vehicle heading southbound collided with four vehicles at the light and caused two others to impact one another,” said Anderson. Two of the drivers were taken to hospital. Their injuries are believed to be minor, he said. The crash closed Trafalgar until about 9 a.m.

1. Aftermath of Horrific 407 Crash in Milton Area

A man was transported to a trauma centre following a crash on Hwy. 407 near the Milton-Mississauga border on July 11. OPP said the collision, which took place on the eastbound 407 beyond Hwy. 401, blocked all lanes. Shortly afterwards, Ornge air ambulance confirmed that a helicopter landed on the highway west of Winston Churchill Blvd. in response to the “serious collision.” The affected portion of the 407 was shut down and remained closed for investigation. There were reports that one car rolled over and a truck jumped the median.
