Young Brampton Men Facing Several Charges for Human Trafficking

After two teenaged women were identified as victims of human trafficking, three men are facing nearly 30 charges.

After two teenaged women were identified as victims of human trafficking, three men are facing nearly 30 charges.

Toronto police allege that in November 2017, an 18-year-old woman was sexually assaulted on numerous occasions and was forcibly confined by a man. 

According to police, the woman was coerced into the sex trade with threats to her and her family. 

“During this time the man controlled her through violent sexual assaults and the use of a firearm and intimidation,” say police. 

The woman eventually escaped from the man and contacted police.

Police executed a series of search warrants on December 13, 2017, and subsequently arrested 21-year-old Deion Cuvilie (left in cover photo), aka. ‘D’, of Brampton, and 19-year-old Kristos Shepherd (right in cover photo) of Brampton. 

Police also allege that “During the execution of the search warrants, officers located and seized a loaded Norenco 308 long-barreled rifle and a quantity of crack cocaine.”

Toronto police also seized a 2016 grey Nissan Maxima.

Cuvilie is facing 18 charges:

  • Sexual Assault  
  • Sexual Assault Causing Bodily Harm  
  • Sexual Assault with a Weapon  
  • Procuring/Recruit Person to Provide Sexual Services 
  • Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting 
  • Procuring/Exercise Control 
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing that its Possession is Unauthorized  
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm  
  • Careless Storage of Ammunition  
  • Store Firearm Contrary to Regulations 
  • Two counts of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order 
  • Theft Under $5000 
  • Assault 
  • Forcible Confinement 
  • Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke 
  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 
  • Three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order 

He is set to appear in court on April 9, 2018. 

Shepherd is facing five charges: 

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized 
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm 
  • Careless Storage of Ammunition 
  • Store Firearm Contrary to Regulations 

He is set to appear in court on April 5, 2018.

Officers have identified a second victim in connection with the same investigation. According to police, “on Thursday, November 23, 2017, a 17-year-old girl was in the company of a man, known to her as the rap artist ‘KMoney'”, who police allege is an associate of the first suspect, Cuvilie.

“During the evening hours, the man assaulted, forcibly confined and sexually assaulted the girl.” 

On Sunday, March 25, 2018, police arrested 22-year-old Kareemallah Muhammad, aka. ‘KMoney’, 22, of Toronto.

He faces four charges: assault, sexual assault, forcible confinement, and fail to comply with probation. 

He appeared in court on Monday, March 26, 2018. 

According to police, there may be more victims.

“Police would like to encourage all affected individuals to come forward and report Human Trafficking occurrences to police,” said police in a recent statement. “We want to make sure that everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to proceed criminally.”
