If you have a bunch of old batteries lying around that you don’t want to toss in the trash, you’re in luck—you can recycle them.

If you have a bunch of old batteries lying around that you don’t want to toss in the trash, you’re in luck—you can recycle them.

The Region of Peel recently announced that residents are encouraged to put their used household batteries out for curbside collection beginning the week of October 21.

From October 21 until November 1, 2019, residents of the Peel region may place their single-use household batteries out for curbside collection.

This collection service will provide residents with an easy and convenient way to dispose of their batteries safely.

To prepare used batteries for collection, residents can set out their single-use A, AA, AAA, C, D, 9 volt and button cell household batteries in a transparent, sealable bag.

The batteries must be placed in bags on top of the organics cart.

The region of Peel has recycled 67 tonnes of batteries since 2016, which is helping to reach its goal of 75 per cent waste diversion by the year 2034.

Residents should also note that they don’t have to hold onto used household batteries until fall every year—everyone is free to drop them off at a CRC anytime.
