Have you ever felt too lazy to take a stash of dusty old BlackBerry phones and miscellaneous cords to the nearest electronics recycling facility? If so, perhaps the idea of some free pizza might entice you to bundle up your ancient goods and get them out of the house–and out of landfills–for good?

Have you ever felt too lazy to take a stash of dusty old BlackBerry phones and miscellaneous cords to the nearest electronics recycling facility? If so, perhaps the idea of some free pizza might entice you to bundle up your ancient goods and get them out of the house–and out of landfills–for good?

Fortunately for unmotivated recyclers, Pizza Pizza has launched its annual Slices for Devices campaign. Now, residents of Mississauga and other cities are welcome to drop eligible electronic devices off at any participating location and receive a free slice of pepperoni or cheese pizza in return.

The campaign will last throughout the month of April.

As for what you can drop off, the pizza chain is accepting small end-of-life electronic devices, including smart phones, digital cameras and mp3 players. The devices will be recycled with the assistance of Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) and Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES). Proceeds from the process will go to Pizza Pizza’s Slices for Smiles Foundation in support of the Children’s Miracle Network.

“In this day and age, electronics are so easily attainable and we’re constantly upgrading our devices,” said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Pizza. “Not many people know how to properly dispose of them, so we’re pleased that we can help make it easy with Slices for Devices, where you can recycle your electronics, eat a delicious slice and help a great cause.”

If you (or your school or company, specifically) has more big ticket items to dispose of–think computer monitors, laptops, computer towers and IT equipment–you can recycle those and receive a more generous Pizza Pizza gift card in return. According to the brand, the gift card amount will be determined by the volume of electronic waste collected.
