A year ago, anyone would have predicted that Patrick Brown was going to be Ontario’s next premier.

But in January, he was turfed from his party and position after two women alleged he had been sexually inappropriate with them during his time as a city councillor and MP in Barrie. Brown vehemently denied the controversial allegations and is now suing CTV, the network that broke that story, for $8 million. He’s also crafting a tell-all on what he calls his political assassination.

To some people’s surprise, Brown subsequently set his sights on Mississauga, proclaiming his candidacy for Chair of the Region of Peel and appearing at a number of local events.

Now, it looks like Brown might have serious trouble attaining that position, as recent media reports indicate that Premier Doug Ford has plans to cancel the upcoming regional chair elections in Peel, York, Niagara and Muskoka.

Prior to this coming election, the regional chair position was an appointed one (in Peel, at least).

The Toronto Star reported on Ford’s plans in the evening hours of Thursday, July 26.

That same day, Patrick Brown sat down with insauga.com’s Khaled Iwamura to talk about Doug Ford, his new book, his time in politics and his attempt to make a comeback in Peel.

Here’s what he had to say:

What do you think of Doug Ford?

Why would you want to get right back into politics?

Is running for Peel Regional Chair your political comeback?

What does a Regional Chair actually do?

Tell us about your tell all book “A Political Assassination”?
